Recording: Sunday Session - 'Creating the Community You Need'.

For many people, unschooling means stepping away from a ready-made community for themselves and for their children. That can naturally feel both worrying and isolating. But, whilst it can be a bumpy ride in the beginning, it also opens up the possibility of creating something far more authentic that genuinely meets everyone's needs for connection.

In this session we were delighted to be joined by experienced community creators Chemay Morales-James (My Reflection Matters) and Anna Brown (Living Joyfully Network), chatting about all things community, including themes such as:

  • deschooling ourselves of the idea that community has to look a certain way
  • accepting the grief that can come with stepping away from a school community
  • understanding what our children's needs are and what our needs are (and what to do when they are very different)
  • finding ways to meet those needs, offline and online
  • various ways of creating community if you can't find one that suits your family

Hosted by Melissa Crockett-Joyoue and Esther Jones.

What’s included:

  • 90-minute Zoom session (recording)

  • 60-day replay access so you can take your time to watch / listen
  • Two guest speakers (& hosts) with lived experience

  • A supportive, conversational format.

The first Sunday Session was so reaffirming for me! I felt great comfort from all of the collective wisdom of the presenters, organizers, and participants.
