Roundtable: The Importance of Taking Care of Ourselves
How we are really matters! The more resourced we are, the better we feel and the better we can accompany our children. We'll be talking about ways we can keep our own cups filled and build our own capacity.
Claire Gillespie
Claire is a life coach for home educating mothers. A mother of two home educated teens, she helps parents trust themselves as fiercely as they trust their children's learning. Her work focuses on helping mothers thrive alongside their families, not after they've grown.
Essie Richards is a somatic coach and founder of Sol Unschooling Collective, a neuro-embracing practice ground for the kind of expansive, life-giving relationship with yourself, others, and all living beings that makes liberation possible for everyone.
Kira Buckley is a holistic health practitioner, writer, and educator devoted to whole-person learning. A former English professor turned clinical herbalist and somatic practitioner, she founded Starseeds Activate!, a learning experience, where children explore creativity, emotional intelligence, and body awareness through curiosity, nature connection, and self-directed discovery; while helping families move beyond rigid schooling models into more intuitive, life-centered learning.
Shubha Balabaer
Shubha is a queer, disabled parent to a non-speaking, Black, 6 year old with high support needs, who doesn't primarily communicate symbolically. They see parenting and centering the most marginalized disabled people as moving towards liberation. They co-host the podcast Unbound Futures with another disabled parent of a non-speaking autistic kid, where they share how the daily experiences of parenting can be part of a bigger disability justice umbrella. They blog at 'The North Star and the Compass' on Substack. Shubha also works at MediaJustice, an organization centering the BIPOC community in the fight against Big Tech & Media and authoritarianism.
Stacey Yates Sellar is a Scotland-based, Dr. Shefali–trained and certified Conscious Parenting Coach, certified in Applied Positive Psychology, and an unschooling mother of two. She is the author of Conscious Parenting Your ADHD Child, host of a parenting podcast, and founder of the ND Parenting Lab, a weekly live coaching support group for parents raising neurodivergent children.
