WORKSHOP
Mindful Deschooling. Tools & practices to bring more ease to your daysÂ
With Esther Jones
In this workshop, Esther will guide you through the four-step process she outlines in her book, The Parent’s Handbook to Unschooling Yourself, for moving through the inevitable trigger moments with self-compassion and curiosity: Pause - Be Kind - Be Curious - Engage.Â
You’ll have a chance to explore the things that you find most challenging and work through this process. The simple practices you’ll take away can be incorporated into your daily life as foundational practices for your deschooling journey. Unravelling our old ways is inevitable, so let’s do it gently.
Esther Jones is a writer, speaker, and mindfulness teacher whose work explores natural learning, trust, agency, and what it means to truly thrive alongside our children. Before becoming a parent, she rarely questioned conventional ideas about education and success. After moving to Barcelona in her twenties, she founded a company and spent two decades immersed in a life of striving and achievement. Leaving her business marked a turning point: she began to see how deeply her beliefs about success, parenting, and learning had shaped her life. Seeking a different path, Esther and her partner chose to take their children out of school and move to a home in the hills near Barcelona. As she healed from burnout, she observed her children’s natural curiosity and creativity flourish. Through mindfulness and self-compassion, Esther now helps families move beyond fear-based patterns and toward connection, joy, and meaningful learning. Esther is the host of The Unschool Space podcast, the author of The Parent’s Handbook to Unschooling Yourself: A Mindful Guide to Living and Learning with Your Child, and cofounder of The Unschooling Summit. She holds regular small-cohort courses for parents looking to embrace life beyond mainstream school.
